June 30, 2016 Well Done Elder Dunn!!

Welcome Home Taylor!

Hey Family!

That youth conference sounds like a blast!! I'm glad everyone had an awesome time!! Sad to hear that Sister Chipman is leaving. She was super cool!

So we had some awesome miracles that we saw this week! We were trying to contact a less active on the ward list and it turned out we found her ex-boyfriend Paul! He is baptist but isn't actively attending his church and is really open. He wants to start getting back into church and coming closer to God. He also wants to help his ex-girlfriend do the same thing so with his help we are praying that we will be able to help both of them! He's super busy with work because he runs his own business and has another job so we are trying to help him make time for God! He loved the restoration and the Book of Mormon lessons though and wants to come to church. We just need to get some member fellowship to help him out!

As well, we were trying to contact a former investigator named Jose and ended up teaching his daughter and her family the restoration instead which went really well! They also work a lot, especially on Sundays but we invited them to pray and ask their bosses to get work off and they both agreed to it! We will be seeing them on Wednesday and are excited to help them progress. With their faith and the power of prayer they will be able to get work off!

It's going to be super sad to leave my comp Elder Wride. He was awesome but the change will be good for him. He's just an awesome missionary!

My schedule for Wednesday will be as follows: go to transfer meeting, help everyone else out, go out and work in the APs area for a couple of hours, have a little meeting at the mission home and eat dinner, go to the temple, chill outside the temple and talk about how awesome the mission was, go to hotel and go to bed! So ya that's about it!

I'm expecting a lot of questions about how the mission was and what I learned etc. Honestly it's hard to sum up but what I've learned is that Jesus Christ truly is a perfect example for us. I've learned to follow Him more in every way. I've learned of humility, diligence, faith, patience, hope, charity, love, obedience, virtue, and meekness, and just turning my trust to God. My testimony, like I've said before has become a part of me, and I know that as I strive to follow Christ and give it all I have, I will be happy and I will help others be happy. That is what I've wanted to do and what I have done on my mission with the help of the Lord. I hope to continue to do so and be a tool in the Lord's hands :) I love my Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ, I know they love me and want the best for me! I'm learning my potential and striving to live up to it. I'm doing my best to align my will with God's will! That's my testimony :) I'm grateful for the opportunity to labor in the Lord's vineyard! Thanks so much for your support. You guys are the best parents ever!! See you soon!

Last day together with Sister Colson :(
Hello Everyone!

We had a pretty fun week this week :)

So on Thursday we get a call from the APs telling us we are

"receiving" a sister - for three days. There have been lots of fires

over in Azusa/Glendora area (other side of the mission) and Sister

Garcia had asthma issues so they sent her over here for a few days so

we were a trio for a bit - it was pretty fun! We did splits one night

with a member and that turned out pretty well. She has been out three

months and has a lot of greenie fire in her so it was really cool to

feel that energy and she did a great job contacting and talking to

everyone.

We had zone conference on Thursday and that was really cool. Lots of

great training from President, the APs, and our ZLs. President told

one of his mission stories and it was super powerful. He served in

Mexico, right below the border of Arizona. He said the only thing

different between the north side of the border and the south (his)

side of the border was that Arizona had air conditioning. He said it

would get to be 122 degrees and they would be on the bus and he said

they would just roll up the windows because the wind was so hot it

felt like your face was burning off. He said that the people in his

area would wash their clothes in this big tub of water and he would

stand there with his arm in it up to the elbow just to feel cool.

He said one day they were walking down the road and they saw these

three guys smoking. The men waved them over, asking them if they

wanted a cigarette or some alcohol. They told them they didn't drink

and started talking to them. One of the men told them, "I would like

to hear more of your message and it's because you guys are young kids,

not some old preacher, and you're out in this heat spreading a good

message. I will listen to your message." Cool experience right?!

We had this pretty awesome FHE on Monday and one of our recent

converts (Kathy) who is super cool, came. And it was like 115 degrees

that day!

We get the chance to sit and play the piano every Tuesday at a

convalescent home and this Tuesday after we played, David (a pastor

who preaches every Sunday there) asked us if we would go to a few

different rooms with him and pray over the people there. It was quite

the experience. Everyone we prayed with was Catholic but we could tell

it brought them a lot of peace.

The stake put on a play this week: Alice in Wonderland. We were asked

to help usher so we actually got to stay and watch and it was amazing!

It was actually a musical and the play and the music and everything

was written by a couple in our Ward and they did a great job! All of

the kids in the stake were involved too and it was so cool!

That's about it for my week here in Glendale :) Transfer news: I will

be staying here and my new companion is Hermana Cook! She used to be

in Spanish work but switched over so we're really excited to work

together. This is her last transfer but she'll extend for a little bit

so we're pretty excited :)

I love you all so much! Hope you have a wonderful week!!

Love, Sister Dunn

Chelsea - June 27, 2016

Hi ya’ll!!

Man my tagalog is getting out of whack! Kinda obvious that I’m now with an American companion! I only speak tagalog now when we are out of the house actually communicating with people… it's so sad. But at least I’m getting some english practice!

My new area is in a place called San Mateo!! It’s in Cauayan zone and is about 1.5 hours from the mission home. But it’s not like the middle of nowhere. It has a great market and a lot of shops. It’s bigger than diffun. It’s just a branch here so there is only about 50 people who go to church here. The branch is struggling pretty bad so ya.. kinda stressful being assigned in this area! But I love it! It’s sooo beautiful here. My comp is sister Tupounuia!! Haha she’s another american here. President rahlf called me before I got transferred and said he’s putting me with her because her dad is on his death bed right now and she pretty much said goodbye to him already and she’s been struggling. She is from Magna Utah and has been out six months. Her tagalog is probably like my tagalog in my first cycle. Let’s just say I’m teaching everything and making all the contacts right now. Haha it’s stressful. But she is great though. Super hilarious!

Also, the Jones, a senior couple, are assigned to our ward and they work with us every week. Wooh! I love them! And this is the best of all, there is air con in our room. AIR CON PEOPLE! Out of only 2 houses in the whole mission that has aircon I got one of them! WOOO! Honestly though, sometimes it’s nice but usually it’s soooo cold I can’t even stand it. Haha I just go out to the kitchen where it’s hot because that’s what I’m used to! haha.

There are also 3 dogs that live right next to us and the owner of our house comes and feeds them every week. It’s so sad…. they are like starving, and they eat the water and food that comes out of the neighbor’s drain. Don't worry people, I have fed them to the best of my ability! haha.

That’s about all I have to report on this week! The real work starts this week!! Love you all!

Hello Everyone!!

I hope your week was fantastic! We had a good week!

On Tuesday, we visited Sister Tena who is an amazing lady. She has so

much faith, and doesn't attend our Ward a lot, mainly because church

starts at 9. It is hard for her (health wise), to make it to church

that early. But she has a strong testimony. She was also a stake

missionary in the past, so she shares the gospel as much as she can!

On Wednesday, we had our last district meeting! So my district leader,

is actually in the Miller's Ward!! Isn't that cool?? He talked about

companionship unity, and it was a really good topic because I was kind

of struggling with that! I definitely learned that when you establish

a common ground with your companion, and strive to follow the Spirit,

that you will be successful as a companionship. On Wednesday we also

taught Avery (He is 8 years old). He is an awesome kid! He does have a

hard time focusing, but when you ask him questions, he truly thinks

about what we are asking him. We talked about enduring to the end, and

related that topic to Lehi's dream. He got so excited when we showed

him the picture of Lehi's Dream. We asked him if he remembered the

story, and he did a pretty good job! He is doing well, and now he has

gone to church 3 times in a row!! We are so happy about that!

On Thursday, we got a call out from some missionaries in the zone. So

what happens with call outs is that one companionship will start the

call out, saying that they found a new investigator, or that they

handed out a Book of Mormon, and then they would pass along a

challenge to another companionship. So some elders from the zone

called us out, and challenged us to get a new investigator, and have a

member present lesson. So we had a blitz the next day, where we had

the missionaries from our district tract in our area. Sister Hunt and

I found a new investigator the first door we knocked on!! Haha! It was

awesome! Then we knocked around some other doors, and had a great

conversation with a Jehovah's Witness! She was so nice! By the end of

the day, we completed half of the challenge, but then the new

investigator that we found that morning dropped us over text. (We made

the mistake of giving him our number! Shoot!) All is well though! We

had a great day of contacting!

On Friday we had a great lesson with Sabrina our investigator. She is

an amazing person! At this point, she feels that the Book of Mormon is

true, and that the church is true, but she wants to be completely confident

about it before she moves towards baptism. Her family isn’t necessarily

supportive, and so that makes it really hard on her. But I remember in the

middle of the lesson telling her to trust in the Lord. I told her to not be scared

to stand up for what she knows to be true with her family. At the end of

the lesson, she told us that we helped her a lot. :)

On Saturday, we did a lot of service. We helped a family unload boxes

into storage, and we did some yard work for an older lady:) We also

visited a lady in the Ward who has been suffering from depression. It

sure is hard to teach someone who is struggling with that illness. Also,

she doesn’t want to accept priesthood blessings either. She is at a point in her

life where she doesn't want to accept any help. So it has been tough

for us to help her. All we can do is provide a little beam of light

and encouragement in her life!

On Sunday, we attended wonderful meetings! We went to Sacrament meeting

in 3rd Ward, and then went to the YSA branch for the rest of the block. Kenny

came to sacrament meeting again, so we were glad to see him there! Also,

some other less actives showed up and stayed a lot of the time, so we were really

happy about that!

Well.... to end my letter, I will give you some transfer news!!!! I am training again!!!

Wow! The Lord and President Passey really trust me to train again! 15 new

missionaries are coming in, and 10 of them are sisters! So it is really exciting to be

training at the same time with a lot of sisters that I know! It brings

me a lot of comfort:) That’s all for this week!

Taylor, I love you, and I hope you adjust to the real world quickly! I am also excited

that you get to keep Spence company:) I love you all! Have a wonderful week, and

4th of July!!

Sincerely,

Sister Lindsay Dunn
